Personal Care in Lancaster PA

nursing home personal care

It is easy to feel like we’ve lost a sense of purpose as we age, but caring for our bodies, minds, and spiritual selves can bring purpose back and make these years joyful and carefree. At Calvary Homes, we understand the importance of assisted-living type care for independent older adults through their retirement years.

For our residents who need additional supervision or help with the tasks of daily living, we offer personal care in Lancaster, PA, in small and relaxed household settings. This environment puts residents at ease and encourages them to engage in the various activities of daily living available to them and the other residents.

Our lounges and exterior recreation areas provide abundant options for residents to entertain, play games, participate in group exercise, or go on outdoor excursions. Three delicious meals are served each day at our beautiful Grandview Café, an appealing and social space for residents and visitors to enjoy dining with choice and flexible mealtimes.

Renovations soon underway will add full baths to most resident rooms, a new whirlpool spa, and create a new care neighborhood with enlarged social and recreational spaces adjacent to a lovely new outdoor garden, dining deck, and fountain area.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of musical programs, morning devotions, Saturday evening entertainment, Sunday worship and vespers, fellowship get-togethers, exercise programs, and other special events planned for the enjoyment of residents and their visitors or family members.

Garden View Memory Support

Our Garden View memory loss care unit is made up of eight private resident rooms, each with their own powder room. Common areas include a living room, activity room, central bath, and dining room.

A safe and secure garden area provides walking space and benches for resting and enjoying the flowerbeds and fountains. The raised flowerbed allows residents to work in the garden if they so desire.

Garden View is designed to provide memory support to those who are experiencing difficulties and need assistance and supervision in their daily routine. Residents are encouraged to do as much as possible for themselves. Through programming, we provide meaningful activities to stimulate persons both physically and mentally. This level of care helps our residents maintain independence while they also receive the help they need.

What is Memory Care and Who Needs It?

An essential part of the overall-care plan for an aging individual is memory care. As we grow older, we all have some degree of memory fuzziness or memory loss, but some of us will experience more difficult memory issues such as dementia or Alzheimer's Disease.

These issues can make it hard for a person to live independently, which is where memory care takes over. This kind of care helps a person with memory issues maintain structure and routine in their everyday life, minimizing stresses and confusion. People who may need memory care are those who feel overwhelmed by navigating their daily life alone. When someone comes with memory care needs to Calvary Homes in Lancaster, PA, Garden View is an option.
