What Is Skilled Nursing Care?
As people grow older, their medical needs can naturally increase, requiring more attention so they can function at their average pace. Skilled nursing facilities can help people of retirement age as they navigate their increased health needs while maintaining as much independence as possible and continuing their daily-living activities.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health and Human Services regulates skilled nursing facilities in our state. And at Calvary Homes, our skilled nursing facility is designed so our residents will receive the care they need from our highly trained staff in a comfortable, friendly environment.
We want to help seniors who need more assistance than a personal care setting can provide, so our residents can move from our personal care community into our skilled nursing care community. Calvary Homes is there for every step of your care as you age, while you enjoy retirement in any of our friendly communities.
Is Skilled Nursing Care Right for Me or My Loved One?
When you choose the right retirement living option for yourself or a loved one, a continuing care retirement community with a skilled care option near Lancaster, PA, is an attractive choice. This is especially true if you have concerns about additional care needs over time. Professional nursing care is often the solution for residents in other parts of our community who require more care. This way, they can remain in a familiar place and not have to readjust to an entirely new home environment.
As mentioned before, choosing Calvary Homes for your skilled nursing care needs gives you access to a wide range of care options. We have our licenses through the state of Pennsylvania, and we undergo thorough inspections and have all the certifications you would expect from a skilled nursing center. We want our residents to feel comfortable and confident in their care as they adjust to a period in their life where they need more help than they may have previously. Our skilled nursing facility has medical professionals on staff. We also employ caregivers who are trained and certified in administering medication and helping with daily life tasks, such as bathing and dressing. When you choose Calvary Homes, you can ease into your new routine with all the support you need.

What's the Difference Between Skilled Nursing Care and Rehabilitative Services?
The difference between skilled nursing care and rehabilitative services can confuse people, especially because Medicare and Medicaid health insurance define what services they will pay for under each term. Rehabilitation services are health services provided to improve life skills that may have been damaged or lost due to an illness, injury, or disability. Rehabilitation services are usually outpatient services performed in a medical building, and they last for less than three hours a day.
Skilled nursing, on the other hand, is generally an inpatient experience. Typically, residents in a skilled nursing facility have needs that require attention around the clock, so they live in a standalone setting. Some skilled nursing facilities, like ours, also offer rehabilitation services for their residents, but residents receive other types of care, like medication administration and help with personal grooming. These are services that you would not receive at a rehabilitation services center.
